It all begins with an idea.
I discovered visual art late in high school, having previously focused on dance, music, and film. Seeking a medium that matched my fast-paced thinking, I turned to painting and began my journey as a largely self-taught artist. In 2019, I enrolled at the University of Houston-Clear Lake, where I officially developed my practice. Drawing from Cave Art, Neo-Expressionism, and Hip-Hop, I explored "attempts at freedom," ultimately creating Negró Expressionism, the foundation of my undergraduate thesis.
After graduating, I co-founded the art collective ONE DROP with two other individuals in Indianapolis, where we explored curation and community transformation. I also pursued an MFA at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn during this time, graduating in 2023. During my time there, my work focused on the inequities faced by underserved Black and Brown communities and the systems that perpetuate them. As a Contemporary Afro-Surrealist, I exhibited my thesis show, The Negró Expressionist: An Afro Viaje Home, in spring 2023. n 2024, I resigned from my position there to pursue my full vision by creating Drama Blu, a platform designed to empower artists and share their work.
Currently, I am pursuing an MBA at Butler University, which I will complete in the spring of 2026.
